WHAT:
The 2012 CHET Dream Big! Competition, sponsored by the State of Connecticut Treasurer's Office, TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc. and CHET, is a drawing and essay contest. Parents of Connecticut K-5 students enter their children and children express themselves creatively with a chance to win prizes.
WHY:
To encourage families to start thinking
about how higher education may
help their children realize their
dreams and make a difference
in the world, and to promote the
importance of saving for college
early through a CHET direct-sold account.
WHO:
Parents enter Connecticut students in grades K-5
(or equivalent, if homeschooled).
WHEN:
The contest will run from January 30 through March 30, 2012. (All drawing and essay entries must be
postmarked by March 30, 2012 and received by April 10, 2012, sent
to: CHET Dream Big! Competition,

HOW:
Entries should be submitted in the
following categories:
DRAWING: Grades K-3: An
original drawing, illustrating,
"What do I want to do after I go to
college?"
ESSAY: Grades 4-5: An original
essay responding to the question,
"How will I change the world after I
go to college?"
Entries must include: 1) a completed Official Registration/Entry Form; 2)
original work (may be submitted on an Official Registration/Entry Form or
stapled to the form itself on a similarly sized (8.5" x 11") piece of
paper); and, 3) Signature by parents or legal guardians with all
sections completed. Entries will not be returned.
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by March 30, 2012 and received by April 10, 2012.
PRIZES:
$300 CHET DIRECT-SOLD ACCOUNTS will be awarded to a
maximum of 96 County winners—one boy and one girl from each grade, from each of Connecticut's eight
counties. (CHET accounts are
presented to the parent or legal
guardian of the County winners.)
All teachers who have at least two students who submit CHET Dream Big! Official Entry Forms will receive a $50 gift card for school supplies.
JUDGING:
A panel of artists, writers and representatives from TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing, Inc. and the Connecticut Treasurer's Office will select the 96 County winners.
RECOGNITION:
All of the winners will have their name, grade, county, school and winning work displayed on
www.chetdreambig.com and will
be invited to an award
ceremony.
